Museum-Estate of a Potter

Ethnographic museum-estate of a potter in Gorodnaya village has been operating since 2008. It includes a house, an outbuilding with a traditional hearth for firing, a cellar for storing clay, a wagon (lorry) used to transport the crockery made for sale, and a shed for storing equipment. In the dwelling house is a workshop of an artisan with millstones, potter's wheel, a place to store the manufactured crockery. It is a working museum in which the visitor can not only witness the creative process of pottery making, but also be directly involved in it.

July 20, 2008 as part of the celebration of the village of Gorodnaya and the 1st International Plenary of ceramicists opened a museum-estate of the potter, which reproduces the home of the artisan, his workshop with millstones, potter's wheel, a place to store manufactured dishes. In the courtyard there is a furnace for firing crockery, a cellar for storing clay, a lorry, in which manufactured pottery was transported for sale.

It should be noted that this is a working museum, where you can not only be a witness to the creative process of pottery making, but also to take a direct part in it.

The hostess will acquaint you with the history of Gorodnaya pottery, which dates back to the 15th century, tell about the hereditary and most famous potters, offer tea made with herbs and forest products, and can also offer to taste the unique Gorodnaya dishes.
